Programmer Rules

I would like to share to you the rules which I learned when I started my career in IT. These are the rules that helped me grow in becoming who I am now. I hope that all of the new IT professionals and fresh graduates will take note and follow these rules in order.

  1. RTM (or RTFM if you want it harsh). It means "Read the manual". Read just basic information or idea about a given technology or framework. At least you'll have a basis or a cornerstone to start with.
  2. Google is your bestfriend. True! He is my bestfriend (if I would like to make him human) because there are times wherein he provided me with the solutions I need, and sometimes in a surprising way (like automatic scroll down to the actual answer).

It may sometimes not be Google, but you can look for answers in Stackoverflow or in ASP.Net forums.

However, if you don't go through this step and plainly go to the next, someone will surely say this to you: GFGI (or GO F*CKING GOOGLE IT)!!!!!!!
  3. Call a friend. This is the time wherein we ask our colleagues for answers to our problems. This is the only time where we disturb them after we have exhausted all information. Asking for someone's help is a good thing because he or she may have a simpler idea than ours.
I hope these rules help you in your everyday life, even if it is not in IT.

Happy coding!
